I attended a drug court graduation for a class, and 10 people graduated. Some had been clean for 480 days and some only 70 days. Graduation just depends on your progression and how long it takes the court to feel you are ready. Families were there supporting their loved one. One member of each family got to stand up and say how proud they were or something to that affect. A lot of tears were shed and emotion spreading throughout the room. An amazing experience.
This is just one option among many to fight the addiction. Drug court seems to be more effective because there are legal repercussions. Hope this information helps!
I went to a drug court session for a class as well. It's definitely an interesting experience. Are there drug courts in every state? Do other countries have them too?
ReplyDeleteI went to a drug court session too!! It was a great experience and eye opener! its a great program that needs more funding! Haven't they lost fundings for this program?!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if they have them in other countries but I know that they have them in other states. I hadn't heard they lost funding but I'll check it out!
ReplyDeleteSo do people have to go to this drug court just if they are convicted of a drug related crime? Or how does it work exactly?
ReplyDeletethis is an interesting idea. Drug addicts need a reason to quit and this gives them a legal reason plus support from family and friends.
ReplyDeleteI think this form of treatment is great, though I think that there should be a form of keeping track or a list of former participants because you could have someone multiple times without knowing it since their record is expunged. It costs a lot less than sending them to jail and actually helps them to get better.
